# Nampa > A voice messaging app with an ending. No feed. No AI transcription. No archive by default. > No doomscrolling. You talk instead of typing and send a note to one person or a small circle. > They hear it once, get one replay, and then it is deleted. Invite only. Free. iOS and Android. ## In one line Modern social media makes communication permanent, performative and endless. Nampa makes it private, spoken and finished. ## Why it exists Most apps ask for another minute. Nampa gives it back. There is no doomscrolling because there is no bottomless feed. There isn't a feed at all, only the notes people sent to you. ## How it works Every message is a voice note, anything from one second to sixty. There is no keyboard. You hold a button, talk, and let go. You can't edit a note and there is no take two. - A note goes to one person, or to a circle: a small named group of people you actually talk to. - The recipient hears it once and gets one replay. Then it is deleted. - A note nobody plays is deleted 24 hours after it was sent. - A ring around the sender's photo empties as the note runs out of time and turns red in the last hour. There is no written countdown. ## Encryption, stated precisely Voice notes are encrypted on the sender's device. Nampa stores encrypted audio and is designed so our systems cannot play your private notes. Each note is encoded as Opus and encrypted on the sender's phone with a fresh AES-256-GCM key made for that note alone. Only the encrypted audio is uploaded to storage. The key goes to a separate key service so the recipient can open the note, and it is deleted when the note ends. After that the note can't be opened anywhere, backups included. Playback decrypts in memory and nothing is written to disk. This is not end to end encryption in the strict sense, because a Nampa service holds each key while the note is alive. Nampa does not describe it as end to end encrypted. The security overview sets out the threat model: https://nampa.app/policies/security ## AI Nampa has no AI in it. Nothing said in the app is transcribed, summarised, scored, ranked, recommended or used to train a model. There is no assistant. People built it so people can talk to each other. ## Voice and feeling Nampa never transcribes a voice, reads its tone or tries to guess how someone feels. A note reaches the listener exactly as it was said, with the pauses, the laughing and the hesitation left in. Typed text is more and more often autocorrected, suggested or written by software. A voice still has to come from a person. ## Screenshots and recording On iOS and Android the playback screen is blocked from screenshots and screen recording. If someone starts recording their screen, playback stops and the sender is told. There is no share button, no export and no saved file. Someone could still hold up a second phone and record it, and Nampa says so plainly. ## Getting in Nampa is invite only. Each member gets three invite codes a month, and every invite traces back to the person who sent it. You can't skip the queue or pay to get in. To ask for an invite, email hello@nampa.app. ## Price Free. Version one has no paid plan and nothing to buy, including extra replays or invites. ## Verification A voice key is optional. You read a fixed phrase three times, your phone turns the readings into a speaker embedding with 256 dimensions, and only that vector is kept, in the phone's secure enclave. The recordings are thrown away. A voice key plus one invite from someone who vouches for you earns a blue tick. It can't be bought. ## Source for the 90% figure Europol's Innovation Lab projected in 2022 that up to 90% of online content could be synthetically generated by 2026. ## Policies - Policies hub: https://nampa.app/policies/ - Privacy policy: https://nampa.app/policies/privacy - Terms of service: https://nampa.app/policies/terms - Community rules: https://nampa.app/policies/community - Law enforcement requests: https://nampa.app/policies/law-enforcement - Data retention and deletion: https://nampa.app/policies/data-retention - Security overview and threat model: https://nampa.app/policies/security - Incident response plan: https://nampa.app/policies/incident-response - Account recovery: https://nampa.app/policies/account-recovery - Child safety and age policy (minimum age 16): https://nampa.app/policies/child-safety ## Contact hello@nampa.app ## Canonical page https://nampa.app/
