Account recovery

How to get back into Nampa if you lose your phone or your number, and what can't come back.

Last updated 2 October 2026. These policies take effect when the Nampa app launches. Until then they describe how we are building it.

The short version: your account can come back with your phone number. Your notes can't, because they were never kept.

New phone, same number

  1. Install Nampa and enter your phone number.
  2. Type in the code we text you.
  3. You're back, with your name, photo, circles, the people you talk to and your invite codes.

Notes sent to you that haven't ended yet will reach your new phone. Notes that already ended are gone for good.

Your voice key

Your voice key lives only on your old phone, so it doesn't move. Set it up again on your new phone and your blue tick comes back.

Changing your number

If you're changing numbers, go to Settings and choose Change number while you still have your old phone. Everything moves across to the new number.

If you've lost your phone and your number

Ask your mobile carrier to restore your number to a new SIM, then sign in as normal. If the number is gone for good, we can't move your account to a new one. We don't have another way to prove it's really you, and guessing would put your account at risk. You'll need a new invite to start a new account.

If someone else got in

Sign in again with your number. Signing in on a phone signs out every other phone. Then write to hello@nampa.app and tell us what happened. Nampa alerts your old phone whenever your account is signed in somewhere new, so you'll usually know straight away.

We will never ask for your code

No one from Nampa will ever call you, text you or message you asking for your sign in code. Anyone who asks is trying to take your account.
