Child safety and age policy
Nampa is for people aged 16 and over. This is how we keep it that way, and how we protect young people.
The short version: you must be 16 or older. Anything sexual involving a child means an immediate ban and a report to the authorities.
Minimum age
You must be at least 16 to use Nampa, or older if the law where you live requires it.
How we check
- Everyone gives their date of birth when they sign up. Anyone under 16 can't create an account.
- Nampa is invite only, so every new member is vouched for by someone already here.
- Anyone can report an account they think belongs to someone under 16.
If we find an account belonging to someone under 16, we close it and delete their information.
Members under 18
For members aged 16 and 17, nobody can send them a note unless they've added that person first, and adults they haven't added can't find them through contact matching.
Zero tolerance for exploitation
Sexual content involving anyone under 18, grooming, or any attempt to exploit a child leads to an immediate and permanent ban. We report it to the authorities, including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children where that applies, and we keep the reported material only as long as the law requires for that report.
How we find it without listening
We can't play notes, so we rely on people telling us and on patterns that don't need the audio. Reports involving children go to the front of the queue and a trained person reviews them within 24 hours. We also look at signals like an account sending to many new members, or many reports against one account, and we review the invite chain behind any account we remove.
Parents and guardians
If you think your child under 16 is using Nampa, write to hello@nampa.app. We'll look into it quickly and close the account if they're under age.
Getting help
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. You can also contact a child helpline in your country, which can give confidential advice.
